Dirt and disrepair in a wonderful location.
We arrived at Lobster Cottage to find that the property had not been anywhere near properly cleaned. This included cobwebs on the walls and ceiling, cereal under the sofa, black mould in the twin room and both bathrooms, brown sludge around the edge of the kitchen sink, grime around the plug hole in the second floor shower, a used towel left hanging on the door of the second floor bedroom and paint flaking off onto the carpets in multiple rooms. The outside of the property was equally shabby with flaking paint. There is a dangerous hole in the landing floor which not only creates a trip hazard but also reveals the spikes on the carpet grip strip. One member of our party very nearly fell on arrival as the hole is not visible until you step on it. This was a particular issue as we had a young child with us and also one member of our party was elderly. I rang to inform the agent of the issue when we discovered them on arrival and was assured that this would be taken up with Dream Cottages. We then heard absolutely nothing until two days later. We were offered a cleaner but no resolution was offered for the dangerous landing floor. We also witnessed rats in the garden. The location of this property is wonderful and I have to say I slept really well there. Right by the harbour and lots of very nice restaurants and bars and only 10/15 min walk from the beach. It's a real shame it is not managed and maintained properly.
