Lovely House. We will return
Gooder House is in a fantastic location just a 5 minute walk to the centre of Dartmouth with its lovely shops, pubs and the river with boats and ferries. 6 of us stayed here in August and had a fantastic time. The house has a garage which fitted our Hyundai Tucson. Our second car we parked by Dartmouth castle where there is free parking on the road which is a 15 minute walk from the property. The house was very clean and had a very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave , washing machine , cooker etc and even had an Alexa talking device. The house is on 3 levels and the top level there is a lovely spacious but cosy lounge with a Juliette balcony where you can stand and see the harbour with all the boats moored. During our stay we went on the steam train from Dartmouth to Paignton which was lovely. Note we booked our tickets on line but were never once asked to show our tickets. You get the passenger ferry from Dartmouth to Kingswear and say to the ferry man that you have an on line booking. We then collected our train tickets from the station which is just a few minutes walk from the ferry. We then boarded the train but did not have to show our tickets either going to Paignton or coming back. You get reserved seats in a carriage but there were plenty of spare seats. We also visited Blackpool sands and Slapton sands during our visit which are both approx 15 minutes drive from Dartmouth. Both well worth visiting we thought. One point to note , the property is located above Dartmouth and you gave to drive up a very steep and narrow road to reach it. The first time it is quite hairy if you are not used to it but after that it is fine. Also the walk back from Dartmouth to the house is very steep but only short, approx 5 minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Gooder House and would return here.
