Birkbank Farm is a traditional Cumbrian farmhouse in rural countryside near Cockermouth, within the Lake District National Park. This pet-friendly abode boasts two woodburning stoves, a freestanding bath and a games room with pool table, making it a lovely base for families and friends seeking a rural getaway. Pull down the country lane and park the car before stepping inside to take in the surroundings of this three'storey home.
The sitting room features an exposed brick fireplace housing a woodburning stove, with a corner leather sofa inviting you to settle in after a full day, flick on the TV as the logs crackle nearby. The adjoining snug/ games room offers a central woodburning stove, snooker table and darts board for relaxed evenings or friendly competition. Head into the kitchen to whip up a delicious meal on the hob as dessert bakes in the oven, with the feature range cooker adding to the ambience, before bringing everyone together in the dining space to enjoy it.
Climb to the first floor to discover a king'size bedroom where you can flick on the TV from the comfort of your bed before retreating to the en'suite walk?in shower, basin and WC. Along the landing, the family room features a king'size bed and adjoining twin beds, along with a TV and an en'suite walk?in shower room, where countryside views greet you each morning. This level also presents a double bedroom with its own en-suite walk?in shower, as well as another king'size bedroom with an en'suite walk?in shower, each room offering a calm space to unpack and sink into the sheets when the evening draws to a close.
A Velux window lights the staircase as it rises to the second?floor bathroom fitted with a freestanding bath, basin and WC, ideal for lingering soaks, while the final king'size bedroom sits just beyond, complete with a charming beam overhead, dressing area, and an en'suite with bath, shower over, basin and WC. When it is time to explore, the Lake District offers an abundance of beauty, landmarks and family?friendly attractions. Set in rural surroundings not far from the lesser known West Lakes like Buttermere, Crummock and Ennerdale.
It's a wonderful part of Lakeland, being off the main tourist track, yet with so many places to explore. Nearby Cockermouth with its castle, art galleries, shops and restaurants is a great starting point for a trip around Wordsworth Country. Close to the gorgeous Cumbrian coast for a day on the beach, and an easy and scenic drive to Keswick.
Why not visit the Osprey project in Thackthwaite, with two viewing platforms you can watch out for the beautiful rare Ospreys over Bassenthwaite Lake, encouraged by an active breeding plan to get more of these birds back into the local habitat as there are only a few breeding pairs in the country. Venture into Keswick for museums and boat trips, head to Derwentwater for lakeside paths and panoramic viewpoints, or roam the wider national park to uncover trails, peaks and picnic spots to suit all ages. Explore all the Lake District has to offer with Birkbank Farm being your charming base.
