Crediton is a market town in beautiful Devon countryside, well located for both Exeter and Dartmoor National Park. The town dates to at least the 9th century, and prior to 1050 it was the site of a bishopric. There are a wealth of historic buildings along the High Street, particularly in East Town, east of the parish church of Holy Cross.

Situated at the mouth of the River Dart, Dartmouth has been an important seaport since medieval times. The naval heritage is carried on at the Britannia Royal Naval College. At the entrance to the Dart is Dartmouth Castle, begun in 1388. Beside the castle is St Petroc's church, established in the 12th century, and used by soldiers stationed at Dartmouth Castle during the medieval period.
