Abbey Dore Court Garden
Abbey Dore Court Garden

Surrounding Abbey Dore Court is a six-acre private garden on the banks of the River Dore, in the beautiful Golden Valley of Herefordshire. The main garden is linked to a riverside wild garden covering a further four acres of meadow with unusual trees. The garden is a special treat for plant-lovers, with collections of hellebore, ferns, bamboo, and paeonia.

There is a special focus on herbaceous perennials throughout the garden. A separate one-acre walled garden offers a protected area for more tender plants. Colourful long borders run down to the river bank, and the tower of historic Dore Abbey can be glimpsed beyond the garden walls.

What to see

Hellebores in April, with pulmonarias and geraniums. Peonies in May, and herbaceous perennials in the summer months, including papaver, helenium, and astrantia. August sees crocosmia, grasses, and agapanthus. Throughout the year there are clematis, herbaceous perennials, bulbs, and flowering shrubs to enjoy.

Abbey Dore Court was sold in 2018 to new owners and the gardens are no longer open to the public. Please DO NOT make plans to visit. This page is maintained purely for archival interest.
