This fascinating local museum has exhibits on Dunfermline heritage as a centre for linen weaving and damask, with historic looms, weaving tools and patterns.
Update
The museum has completed an award-winning refurbishment and is now open in its new location beside the historic Dunfermline Carnegie Library. The new museum offers a state of the art venue, combining a museum, library, art gallery, and views over neighbouring historic attractions, with an overhead outdoor walkway offering a panoramic view of Dunfermline's heritage district.
Part of the new museum project includes an archaeological excavation of the space behind the library and old bank site. The new museum space includes a new children's library, a cafe, offices, 2 floors of museum space exhibiting the town's heritage collections of objects, plus another 3 galleries for temporary arts, crafts, and heritage exhibits.
