Ri Cruin is a Bronze Age burial cairn with the covering removed to view 3 large burial chambers (cists). The cairn is famous for the axe heads carved on one of the cist slabs.
The site is obscured by a copse of trees but lies in a field just west of the B8025 near its junction with the A819. The cairn was originaly about 60 feet across with kerb stones on the east and south sides.
Two cists lie inside the cairn itself, while a third is just outside. One of the slabs covering the outer cist is carved with 8 shapes of axe heads.
Ri Cruin is the southernmost cairn in the Kilmartin Glen linear cemetery. To the north lie the three Nether Largie cairns and Glebe Cairn, nearest to Kilmartin village.
