Llyn Eiddew Bach III Stone Circle

Llyn Eiddew Bach III Stone Circle is a small stone circle on the trail to the more famous cairn of Bryn Cader Faner. Seven of the original 13-14 stones remain, and the tallest is only 3 feet high.

Six of the stones are upright, and one is fallen. Though it is often described as a stone circle it seems more likely that Llyn Eiddew Bach is a ring cairn, and the stones we see today merely outlined the site. There appear to be 2-3 small cairns inside the outer circle.

The centre of each cairn seems to have been excavated, perhaps by ancient treasure-hunters. Due to the encroaching moorland it can be hard to find all the stones. 

There is a large cairn north-east of the circle in a peculiar elongated shape, and many fallen stones are scattered around the moor, but whether these are part of the monument or separate is not clear.

The easiest way to reach the circle is to park at the end of a minor road east of Eisingrug, take the path up to the right to join the main track to Bryn Cader Faner. The circle is on the right of the path just before you reach the cairn.
