Great base for exploring
We stayed in this lovely little cottage for a week with our 2 kids and dog.
The rooms are very spacious, the log fire lovely to come back to after a chilly day walking. The kitchen had everything we needed.
Location wise, clay cross isn't scenic but cottage is in an acre of garden, so you don't even notice you're a 5 minute walk from the main street.
Locally there are some great takeaways too, especially the charcoal grill at the cross roads. The pizza is very good!
The hottub was a great bonus, being hot all the time so you can chillout without planning!
The owners were very nice about letting our dog run obout the garden off lead as well. As long as we picked up after her. Just outside the front door is a gated courtyard that was useful for letting her out for a late night pee as well.
The only thing that bugged me was, even though there is a washing machine, there's nowhere to dry clothes.

In beautiful countryside, and within numerous sites of interest, Gardener's Cottage proved to be the ideal base and location. Sitting in the hot tub sipping a glass of wine one evening was very pleasant! I wouldn't hesitate to re-book the property, and felt quite sad on leaving - a sign of a good holiday!

Excellent location for main attractions. Beautiful cottage that has been lovingly restored, walled garden is superb, the photographs didn't do it justice. The owner was friendly and happy to offer advice.
