Ideal accommodation to enjoy a sublime area
Kirkby Lonsdale is a joy for anyone who loves an England now sadly lost . A market town of considerable historical interest it sits on the edge of both the Yorkshire Dales and Lakeland national parks giving easy access to both. The wonderful city of Lancaster and sublime Morecambe Bay are but a few miles away. The jewel is the River Lune which gently flows through meadows green on its way to the sea. Both residents and visitors alike have a debt to the very active Kirkby Lonsdale Civic Society which opposes inappropriate development and provides information plaques on the any historical buildings and places of interest such as the beautiful Devils Bridge.Once upon a time and long ago Millbrow was home to old mills and factories and was the main route into town after crossing Devils Bridge indeed Millbrow Apartment served as a workhouse and the towns gaol but today's guests should fear not they will find two bedrooms bathroom kitchen dining room and a sitting room with a view of the river to enjoy. To be in the garden at the rear of the property generously shared by the owners is a joy at any time of the day but particularly in the morning as the sun comes up over the rim of the fell that rises up on the other side of the Lune.Owner Mrs Nicholson is a gracious lady a pleasure to talk with and a mine of local information.Nothing is to much trouble for her.A few hundred yards up the hill are 8 pubs (there used to be more than 20!) cafes a regular Thursday market and a newsagent that is open as early as 05:30.The apartment is presented immaculately clean and is comfortable with a good library and local mapping to enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend without reservation.

It had everything needed for a home from home experience.
Three of us went up to Kirkby Lonsdale recently and spent a week in Mill Brow House. It was a little difficult to locate at first but once found in was simple. The access to the apartment is up a spiral metal staircase which we were told about at the time of booking. Our ages were from 66yrs to 75 yrs and we all managed getting in and out pretty well .(Dont think it would be safe for children.) Pat our "owner" made life so much easier by allowing us to come through her own entrance in order to get our suitcases up. She was a lovely lady. The apartment and the main house had magnificent views of the river and fells beyond. There were antiques at every turn and a modern kitchen and bathroom were just great. Very well kitted out. The beds were comfy too which is a must for me. The whole place was spotlessly clean and it was a pleasure to reside in such an historic house for the week. We found out from a neighbour that the house was once a workhouse. Lovely old pubs were all around us and Kirkby Lonsdale itself is well situated for visiting the surrounding towns and villages. Would definitely go there again. The beds even had electric blankets, now how is that for attention to detail. Thank you Pat. We enjoyed our stay and your company. The three Old Crocks. XX
