Perfect cottage to recharge your batteries and escape Covid.
I recently had the pleasure to stay at this fantastic cottage after the recent lockdown. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to recharge our batteries and escape the dreaded Covid 19. Myself being a nurse and my husband working in the food industry, we have both been working flat out throughout 2020. I have to disagree with a previous review, as we found Ivy cottage spotlessly clean, no cobwebs or spiders, the cottage was well aired, no damp smells or odours. We also had no issues with the log burner, we used it every night after a days walking and the patio door opened with no issues. We had fresh linen for the bed and adequate supplies of kindling and wood for the log burner. The week was just perfect, we both wished we could have stayed longer, but alas work commitments wouldn't allow us to. Its location was ideal, set in a very quiet/private area with stunning views, just a short walk outside of Grewelthorpe village. We are avid walkers and there where so many stunning walks on the door step which was ideal for us. The owner made our stay at Ivy cottage extra special by putting up lovely Christmas decorations and a tree, as well as leaving some chocolates and wine for us both on our arrival. They are obviously very passionate about their business as Ivy cottage was just like home from home, it had everything we needed and much more for our weeks stay. I would definitely recommend Ivy Cottage to both my family and friends without hesitation. Hope to re visit during 2021 to explore the surrounding area even more.

Beautiful cottage
One of the loveliest cottages I?ve stayed in, every thing you need for a relaxing stay. Clean, cosy and and just as described by the advert. Village and location perfect in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales. Couldn?t have asked for more. Will definitely be staying again.

Disappointing
On arrival to Ivy Cottage we could hardly see the sign, very poorly sign posted. A beautiful looking cottage, and pictures had been done very well on the advert as we were surprised to see 2 other dwellings very close to the cottage, so not as private as we'd of liked. Once in the cottage, the first thing that hit us was the smell, it was damp and quite dirty in places, the bedroom had lots of cobwebs and a few spiders, the kitchen cupboard were dirty. It's a very cold living room especially with the tiled flooring, we put the log fire on which looked lovely I must say however after 20 minutes, smoke filled the room, we tried everything we could do get the smoke away. The patio doors were stuck, just could not open them easily, I feel that was a safety hazard and should be dealt with urgently as only 1 door worked ok. All in all Grewelthorpe is a stunning village with a lovely pub around the corner and the home made meals were tasty. Unfortunately we wouldn't visit Ivy Cottage again, as it was quite cold and the smell was unpleasant, I would of thought as we were the first people in after lock down the cottage would of had a major clean, unfortunately I feel that didn't happen. We didn't stay the whole week as planned we did leave early, I hope with this truthful feedback, things change for the better.

Couldn?t ask for more
Utterly lovely little cottage! Everything we needed was there! Lovely little pub round the corner The Crown Inn literally minutes walk! You can get stunning food and amazingly priced drinks! They also sell all the logs and starters you need! We were there most nights for a swift one before lunch! The log fire at the cottage was just what we wanted! Most nights we didn?t even have the TV on just listened to the crackle! Would recommend highly!
