Close to a lovely village centre
The vibrant red kitchen greets you on entering the property which combines the lounge/dining area, we had a welcome pack with bread, biscuits, milk, jams, two 1/4 bottles of wine and a beer. We were surprised there isn't a freezer compartment in the fridge or a separate freezer (we only found out the day before leaving that we could have used a freezer is outside the property under a covered area). There is a full oven/hob, toaster, microwave, kettle, washing machine and plenty of cupboards. The lounge has patio doors overlooking the owners garden which does require some work, but unfortunately the doors were locked and we did not have a key for them, it may be rather warm in the summer. The bedroom just about fitted the bed, it was a bit of a squeeze to walk down the side. You have very small bedside units, lamps but no clock and a hairdryer. The wardrobe is quite large. In the bathroom (shower over, but we didn't use it) the decor, tiling and cabinets need serious attention which wasn't helped with leaking water into the cupboard under the sink. Being virtually on the main road into Thornhill (only a 5 min walk) there is some traffic noise exacerbated by the roof light not closing completely. In the centre there is a Co-op, a Spar, two hotels and a pub for food and drink plus other independent shops. We did experience a dog barking during the night but not sure which house it was coming from. Visiting Ayr which has a beautiful beach you may wish to park on the sea front and walk the the shops (only a few minutes) as at this time of year parking is free of charge, in fact we were surprised at the free parking and free toilet facilities overall in Scotland. We visited Moffatt, Dalbeattie and New Abbey (handy cafe here) which are lovely villages. Dumfries has major supermarkets but the shopping centre does not have much shopping to speak of.

Sheer bliss.
Absolutely everything was perfect. A small welcome pack with any necessities you could easily forget was left for us.
As a young couple who enjoy gaming, the WiFi being capable of handling a couple of devices for gaming and being able to run them at the same time was a MASSIVE plus.
The owners were absolutely lovely, but also left you to your own devices, whenever we did see them they always made sure that everything was fine for us in the cottage and had other things to offer to us if we needed it.
A romantic week away, just the two of us was made absolutely perfect just by this location.
Will definitely be seeing them again soon.
