Five star, centrally-located, super-clean, super-equipped, super-chilled, super-happy...
We have been visting Shrewsbury every spring and autumn, for the last 7 years.
Over that time, we?ve stayed in 2 different coach houses, 1 ?flat?, and 1 carriage house. That's about 12 stays in 4 accommodations. All have been great stays, so I count ourselves lucky. But we think that The Carriage House just about edges it to be overall winner. Mainly because it's so central - as in minutes - and that's on foot.
Definitely don't be put off if you check it out on a StreetView online map - despite looking slightly crammed in to one side by taller buildings, it's very, very quiet (double-glazed, and tucked away in a corner from the main streets).
Our other accommodations were 1 mile or 6 miles out of town, but walking home after a night out in Shrewsbury to the Carriage House takes literally minutes, and no driving's required. No parking's required, either, as there is an allocated spot right outside your front door - a very big plus in £10-a-day-parkingsbury.
Here are some things that put it 'a cut above?:
Coffee machine and PLENTY of pods. We got through 2 boxes between us - sorry, Karen, but I DID descale the machine for you, afterwards! ; - )
Lots of teas to choose from, too, and plenty of them.
Many, many ?extras?: ear plugs (not needed): bed socks (not needed): dishwasher (needed, in our case, despite us eating out every night); washer/dryer (not used); plenty of luxury bath stuff and big towels: a battery candle in a glass case; spare batteries for everything, TV sound bar (not very good but you can?t win ?em all, can you?); Netflix; Freeview; good wifi; lots of bright, but dimmable, lighting; good, and very new, decor; ceiling beams; Velux window; plenty of space for four; round windows (take care if any kids are around, but the ?upstairs living? layout means this accommodation is maybe not 100% recommended for younger toddlers, although there IS a stairgate on request); parking right outside; on-arrival sweet snack / jam / milk / butter / water / wine!
Everything also just works, and no blown bulbs, which makes a nice change in certain accommodations (not in Shrewsbury, they must appreciate their lighting there). All bulbs, even dimmables, are LED - hurrah, looking after our world! (And our work/life/bank balance.)
Having 2 bathrooms (both downstairs, but one is en-suite) is a real bonus for 2 couples - in our case, me and Mrs C; plus our grown-up youngish son and his wife. The Carriage House also gets their vote, out of all the accommodations we?ve seen.
Plan the last few minutes of your arrival journey well, as there are one-way road systems in the area. But that's not really a biggie. If walking from the station, that's do-able in 10-15 minutes. Take the road by the river, then turn left just before the big bridge over the river.
There are cafes, restaurants, and bars just minutes away from TCH on foot, with even more choices, plus shopping, a few minutes further on.
The cottage is very warm and cosy in spring / winter, if that's what you want, with slider-adjustable electric rads and towel rails everywhere. I can?t comment on whether the location is maybe too warm for midsummer visiting. (No aircon, but a fan / fans are probably available, and there are plenty of windows that we did not test out for opening.)
Spring and autumn stays (but not in school holidays) will get you much better prices, but that's the same everywhere, whether in Shrewsbury or beyond.
So? The Carriage House is very well recommended!

Stylish and a great location
The Carriage house is a beautifully presented cottage with very stylish and comfortable decor. It contained everything you could need and the welcome basket and in particular, the Christmas decorations were a lovely warm touch. An outstanding holiday stay. Its location in the heart of Shrewsbury is fantastic, (but can be a bit difficult to navigate the streets into the cottage). Having its own parking bay is a bonus.

OUTSTANDING ACCOMMODATION!
My family and I booked to stay for four nights at the Carriage House and we loved every single thing about it. Fantastic location in minutes walk of all the lovely restaurants/bars etc of Shrewsbury and the added bonus of having a reserved parking space right outside the door. The inside of the Carriage House was just excellent, the place was so clean and modern and Karen the owner had made so many special touches, including leaving us a welcome package of homemade scones, bread, milk, butter (and as it was my husbands 50th she had left a light up birthday sign and a bottle of bubbly!). I would absolutely recommended the house to everyone and cant wait to stay again, as it was truly the best accommodation I have stayed in.

CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN
The best accommodation we have ever rented!!
There are not enough words to say how thrilled we were with the apartment. The attention to detail is beautiful. Very high spec throughout 5 star and more!!. There is nothing that hasn't been thought of! We arrived to a basket of goodies to eat and drink very unexpected but greatly received.
I could go on and on but will leave some of the surprises for you to find when you book this beautiful home from home and more.
We were fortunate to meet Karen the owner before we left, what a lovely lady. It was a pleasure to thank Karen in person for a wonderful weekend break. Can't wait to return very soon.
