One of the finest Tudor and Jacobean manor houses in the country, Arreton was once a royal manor owned by Alfred the Great, and later, by Edward the Confessor.
Charles I stayed here in a secret room before his eventual capture and execution. The house is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, including a Tudor knot garden.
NOTE ... NOTE ... NOTE:
Arreton Manor was open to the public regularly for years, but appears to now be only offering bed and breakfast and acting as an events venue, but not any other public access. We'll change this notice if things change again.
