An ancient smuggler's village in a marvellous scenic location, Robin Hood's Bay is one of North Yorkshire's most popular visitor destinations. Part of the appeal is the wonderful coastal scenery, but equally important is that the steep hill and narrow, cobbled lanes mean that vehicles are not welcome. You'll have to park your car at the top of the cliffs and walk down to the pretty harbour past attractively painted fisherman's cottages topped by red pantiled roofs.
