Skipton Castle photo, Skipton Castle

Skipton Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in England. It dates to the late 11th century, but much of what we see today is the result of rebuilding by Lady Anne Clifford in the late 17th century. Skipton was besieged in the Civil War for three years before it finally surrendered to Parliament.
