Awful and not as advertised
When we booked this property it was described as a detached cottage, they have since changed the description. We were surprised when we arrived to see what looked like a converted garage (see picture below) and then how small the property was but thought we would get on with it. The furniture in the lounge was really uncomfortable and the smell in the bedrooms made us all feel poorly, particularly the twin room which was overpowering. The double bed mattress was broken and had springs sticking out and the wardrobes and bedding smelled musty. My clothes that had been hung in the wardrobe also stank. There was a bright security light blaring into the bedrooms that the owner refused to turn off and the back fence was not enclosed as described. We left a day early and called Sykes Cottages to let them know how unhappy we were - their response was that the property owner wouldn?t entertain a refund and had said that we were lying about everything. I?ve since reported Sykes to both Trading Standards and Advertising Standards. They sent someone out to check the property and the description has now changed and they offered us a paltry £50 ?gesture of goodwill?! We spent over £500 on this holiday and it was absolutely awful. I am upset that they were allowed to miss sell to us and then the owner is just allowed to not give a refund. The booking process was terrible from start to finish - when we originally booked Sykes called us and said that the owners wanted to let us know it was a working farm and it may be loud, also they asked if we were planning a NYE party. I said no but if we were both worried about noise then we would be absolutely happy to book somewhere else? The owners then said no - we won?t refund you so we just said fine and proceeded. That all just seemed unnecessary and seemingly the owners have no flexibility or customer service skills so not sure why they continue to let this property out?! I won?t ever book with Sykes Cottages again and would warn others about booking this property. It is not what I would refer to as a cottage.

Stayed Fri 6th to 13th July, very quiet place, loved the hot tub after walking all day with are dogs, the valley village nearby is also good 2 chip shops 2pubs,a Chinese burger bar and pizza place all in all I very pleasant stay

Not Good
The place itself was nice but the owner lacked good customer service skills she didn't give us a very warm welcome which surprised us and albeit the accommodation was comfortable the hot tub caused too much drama and was a bit dangerous as it was perched at the end of slippy decking and had wobbly steps into it also there was an extreme lack of privacy we cud not relax as the owner constantly appeared whenever we went to use the tub so unfortunately this was not the relaxing break we had hoped for as we felt we were constantly being watched I would not recommend this venue if u are looking for a relaxing break

Beautiful place with welcoming owners and great views!
As I am writing this review we are currently staying at the cottage. From reading the below reviews I believe gives the wrong impression. We arrived late on Friday night and came into a clean cottage with plenty of room for my partner and I with our dog. When looking round the property the owners had left us a nice treat of some Halloween Jaffa cake bars, eggs, crisps and milk so at least we could have some cereal and cup of tea when we got up. As we arrived when it was dark we didn?t get to take in the view from the back garden but it was defo worth the wait until morning. It's beautiful looking out onto the lake which the owners allow you to walk down their field to the lake which I recommend doing. The garden is of a good size perfect for us and the dog loves it. The hot tub is wonderful lovely hot and clean, the below reviews state that it is overlooked but when sat in the hot tub the owners cannot see you as the only window that is visible when sat down is a frosted window. Mark and Julie are lovely and have been so welcoming, Julie came to welcome us on Saturday morning and show us how to use the hot tub also if we had any questions. We haven?t smelt horse poo at all on our stay but it would make sense if we did as the hint is in the name of the cottage, cefn ?farm? cottage but we expected there to be some disruption with the animals but we have so far had nothing. The owners dogs do bark but as stated in the information pack they are working dogs protecting their home, they are soon told to be quiet or taken in. Overall I am very happy with our choice of cottage and the area is stunning we would definitely come back was worth the 6 hour journey.

when we arrived we was a little confused by where it was. There was a house and barns near the cottage. We rang the women to speak to her and ask if we was in the right location - we was so shocked to see how small the accommodation was and the garden was tiny!! The bedrooms smelled awful of horse poo and we was attached to the barns where the women and kids continuously cleaning the barns out and horses. NO PRIVACY - the cottage was overlooked by the house of which the owner lived in. The hot tub broke on us and was so hot it was unbearable, when we explain it to her she started falsely accusing our young teen of touching the buttons and said she didn't know whether it could be fixed or not. She kept coming through our garden numerous of times with different people to look at the hot tub without warning. Her children was playing in garden next to us and her dogs kept barking at my dog and the women suggested that her young daughter should come round to the cottage to play with my daughter which felt like she was forcing her child upon us. We had our dog with us but nowhere to walk her, nothing in reach of anything, constantly had to drive EVERYWHERE because you can't walk 1 hour down a bypass. The beach was lovely but took 15 min drive to get too. The cottage was not clean and smelt awful - i cannot stress how bad this was. 7 days was so long and was so fed up after 3 days. The wifi signal was rubbish and had nothing but argvation from the owner. DO NOT VISIT. This whole cottage was false advertisement. Also the owner constantly was back firing cars next door to us for hours in the evening.
