This cottage is located near the scenic River Yeo where visitors can enjoy countryside walks. Just three miles away is the harbour town of Bideford with its quaint shops superstores and pubs. Just a little further away is the large sandy beach at Westward Ho! which is popular amongst families and surfers alike.
From Bideford it is possible to take the ferry out to Lundy a wild and rugged yet beautiful island in the Bristol Channel home to puffins and seals amongst other wildlife. Parking is available off road for 2 cars adjacent to the cottage. The cottage is accessed via the delightful South facing garden down 6 steps.
On entering the cottage guests will find a cottage-style lounge on the right with its large inglenook fireplace housing a delightful wood burner for which the first basket of logs are included. There is also a TV with a basic Sky package here which can be enjoyed from the comfortable sofa and armchairs. Just off from the lounge there is a large sunny conservatory which offers stunning views across to the neighbouring wooded valley.
The kitchen has a large table seating six diners and all the equipment that guests will need to make themselves feel at home including an oven hob fridge/freezer microwave dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a convenient bathroom on the ground floor with a shower-over-bath and WC. Upstairs there are two bedrooms.
The first of these is a double room whilst the other is a family room with a double bed and additional single bed making it ideal for a couple with a child or perhaps a teenager and younger child. The bathroom on this floor is a relaxing sanctuary-like space with a large double-ended bath separate shower and WC.Outside there is a pretty garden with a raised patio area offering table and chairs from which guests can enjoy the river views and the quiet surroundings.
Please note that the path at the bottom of the garden may be used by the neighbouring cottage for access purposes only. A fantastic and unusual addition to the property is the secret riverside hideaway which is located 160 yards from the cottage (and after a roadside walk) and is shared with the neighbouring cottage. There is private fishing from the bank at the hideaway and it is possible to spend a night or two camping at the hideaway by arrangement with the owner and at an additional charge.
