Cozy Hideaway
Perfectly located for walkers and hikers. Several pubs and restaurants all a short walk away. Cottage is set back from the road overlooking a tranquil field filled with grazing sheep. A must do is the boat ride up to Glenridding with a stop in for lunch at the Inn on the Lake. Cottage is well stocked. Only negatives were no laundry facility and lack of a shower. Cottage could use a bit of updating, and no wifi is available unless you go across the road to the pub. Only reason we would not return is that the Lake District was not really to our liking, but others may find it perfect.

The cottage was just like being at home. It was very cosy and warm with fantastic views, and in a lovely village. We were able to do walks without having to drive. A perfect holiday for us.

Warm, cosy cottage perfect for walking and Ullswater
Have just come back from a wonderful week here with my 20 year old son, walking the fells. Mews Cottage was cosy and warm, just perfect for returning at dusk, drying out, eating and relaxing. Brilliant location: Post Office that's also a food shop, newsagent etc only a few yards away, 3 pubs, and a tea shop, the lake steamer boat right there. Easy to get to by Virgin Trains to Penrith (very cheap in advance) and Stagecoach bus to the door, even on Sundays in winter. Loads of walks on your doorstep and even a cultural centre (Rheged) nearby that's great for shopping and coffee, as well as films, exhibitions and kids play. At the end of our stay our wonderful hosts even gave us a lift to the station as they feared that the weather might have stopped the buses.
