Unusual property for a very comfortable stay
Thomas Hope Lodge is the original gate lodge for an existing hospital in the Borders town of Langholm. It is in the very centre of the small town, right on the A7, and surprised us by how very quiet and relaxing a base it made for a few day's break over New Year. It has an unusual layout that has been utilised well to provide comfortable space for up to four people (1 double bedroom and 1 twin), with a large lounge and separate dining space (which became a reading and gaming room for us). We arrived in very cold weather and found that the Lodge warmed up and stayed cosy quite quickly. We also found that the owners clearly know and care about the building, the town and the surrounding area, and they have incorporated this into the decoration and the range of information, maps and books provided. We initially chose the Lodge as it was one of the few available for a break at the time of year at very short notice, but were very impressed and will be likely to consider another holiday here soon.

Excellent on all counts
Our very enjoyable first visit to Langholm and the surrounding area was enhanced by staying at the lodge. Apart from being very convenient to all local points of interest the accommodation had everything one might need for a relaxing break. The owners were very helpful and we certainly hope to return. Had enjoyable first class meal at the Eskdale Hotel next door.

Friendly town everything you need on doorstep.
We arrived at this beautiful lodge. It was like stepping back in time but with all modern amenities, Set in the center of town. No noise at all, friendly town and al I can say is it is like going back to the old days when, people spoke to each other face to face rather than on the phone. The walks are brilliant, we did not use the car once. You must check out Betty home bakes and the butchers they are both great shops. Also take a walk around the big store it sells everything you could need apart from food. The lodge is fully equipped and spotlessly clean. It has all you can need the kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and has a large dining table. If you dont want to cook there are many great places to eat. Dont miss this lovely place.

Immaculate, warm, welcoming and historic
Wonderful property, beautiful decor, immaculate, comfortable, relaxing and right in the heart of Langholm. Everything you need is there. My family loved it. We will definitely be back. It's so special to be in a historic, landmark property. Convenient for all the sights and amenities.

Lovely accommodation
We stayed in Thomas Hope Lodge at the end of August and found the house to be absolutely fantastic, the owners had thought of everything that you could possibly need, it was very clean and tidy when we arrived with the added bonus of wine and chocolates! Would definitely recommend!
