Shiers Farmhouse Holiday
Myself and my family had a lovely 2 weeks at Shiers Farmhouse. The cottage was beautifully clean and we were welcomed with milk, tea and biscuits. The kitchen was very well appointed and after a couple of snagging issues we were able to access internet and Netflix which was appreciated by our teenaged sons. The cottage was very homely and in a beautiful location close to Grasmere and Skipton which are both lovely. It was the ideal spot for a walking holiday. There were a couple of things that could have been improved to make this a 5 star holiday: Bigger towels please! Although August, it was chilly and damp and we had my parents with us who are in their eighties. The house instructions said we could not control the heating as it was set for us and this meant a week of very chilly evenings and constantly wet towels as the towel rails/heating never came on. The house sleeps 6 but there was not enough furniture to seat 6 in the lounge - we did have to retrieve bedroom chairs. Despite the hiccups outlined above we really enjoyed our stay but they were probably irritating enough to stop me booking again.
