Nice and clean, friendly owners and minutes from beach and shops
Great location for beach and shops if you don't have a car. If you have a car the public car park is right opposite and we always got a space. Even with the car park opposite the house/road was extremely quiet and restful (apart from the seagulls!) Missed having a bath but the showers were fine. Kitchen had plenty of utensils/pans (often lacking in a rental) which was good. House nice and clean and owners had put in big efforts to make it nice with wine/milk on arrival. Big bonus was the fantastic efforts put in by the locals to be visitor friendly - the free sea shanty singing on west pier on a Tuesday evening was beautiful as the sun went down. Don't miss going there to see the sunsets - we had some spectacular ones, followed by a cider at Pebbles award winning cider pub just round the corner. Also a big thumbs up to the museums - small but great and the ladies in the Boat Museum were super helpful and a mine of information. When the East Quay redevelopment is finished shortly it sounds like it will be a real asset to the town - an excellent arts and crafts hub and 'pods' that you can stay in with great views of the marina. Also a mention for the tremendous volunteer run second-hand bookshop on the Esplanade - one of the best we have been in and we came out laden with books at very reasonable prices. We had never been to Watchet before but would definitely like to return to see if the efforts have been sustained. Also recommend a visit to Lynton/Lynmouth - the cliff railway if great and the arts/craft centre well worth a visit. Valley of the Rocks spectacular but don't take the toll road at the bottom that is signposted A39 - yes it gets there eventually but only after a nail-biting drive on the edge of the cliffs and on a single track road. Horrendous.
