Woodpeckers Halt is a detached cottage located in the village of Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. Its four bedrooms include a super king-size, a king-size with an en-suite, a family room sleeping up to four and a twin bedroom, there is also a family bathroom, the property is able to sleep up to ten guests. Inside, also find an open-plan living area with a kitchen, dining area, breakfast bar and comfortable seating, a utility, a sitting room with a woodburning stove and a conservatory.

To the outside there is off-road parking for three cars as well as an enclosed garden with a lawn, a decking and a patio with furniture. Woodpeckers Halt is a tasteful cottage excellently placed for a break on the Isle of Wight.

Great location but slightly disappointed
We travelled as a Family of 3 generations, 7 of us aging from 4 to 70!! We arrived on the island a little early to get into the property so made our way into Bembridge where we found a lovely village, nice pub, butchers, fishmonger, convenience store and a bakers (who sell the best cake ever!!) At 3pm we made our way to the property, or least attempted to find it - with no house name visible from the road it was a little tricky to find. After finally finding it we were greeted by a slightly overgrown front garden along with an obviously broken dishwasher in the drive?! We had been given the keycode and, thankfully, one of our group was tall as the only other way to access the key safe is to stand on a large block of wood, which was not particularly safe!! After we finally got into the property everything looked great, really good room sizes especially the large kitchen diner area, where we ended up spending most of our time. The garden is also a really good size but again, the hedges etc were overgrown with brambles, not great with a 4 year old running around. We took a look at the visitor folder and found very little information, no local contact numbers (doctors etc) and not much info on the applicances etc in the property. We were also slightly disappointed not to find any kind of 'starter pack' as advertised (we had assumed there would be some tea, coffee, sugar) and we found that there were no extra bin bags or clean washing up sponges (things we have always found supplied in previous properties) We also felt the kitchen was a little under equipped for the amount of people the property can accomodate, simple things like no teapot, only a couple of sharp knives. On closer inspection we actually found the property to be really quite dirty, the floors didn't seemed to have been cleaned, all the plugholes were full of hair, lots of cobwebs everywhere, mirrors were dusty, we found one of the beds in the family room had no mattress protector on it and one of the bedsheets in the twin room was stained. There was a piece of broken bath trim in the main bathroom and there was some unused wooden flooring stacked in the conservatory. It seems that none of the plugholes drain properly either and this could be due to a blocked drain on the outside of the property? The underfloor heating was on in the main bathroom with no way of turning this off, a little unnecessary in the height of summer! We did experience a couple of 'emergency' plumbing issues which were dealt with promptly. Overall the property has lots of positive points and is in a lovely, peaceful spot with the beach less than 5 minutes walk away and in a lovely village but sadly, we all felt that for the price of this property it was very much let down by it's lack of cleanliness and attention to detail.
