Cold house, terrible customer service
Stayed in February. The house took two days to warm up, including a first night where the temperature in the house was near freezing. We called the owner and he told us that his app for the boiler showed that temperature was 20 degrees. He didn?t believe us that it was cold, and didn?t offer to come and check it out. My dads a plumber and knew exactly what was wrong with the boiler, but the owner just said it was fine. And that if it was still cold there were two electric heaters. As there are five bedrooms plus a large living area, that wasn?t sufficient.
There was also just a general lack of care to the property. The bathroom door lock was broken. The electric shower was faulty and the plug was backed up.
I gave Sykes my feedback, and it took them a week to get back to me with an email from the owner where he essentially called us liars and that there was nothing wrong with the property. I emailed Sykes back to say that I wasn?t happy with that response, and they never got back to me.
This is my first Sykes stay, but I?ve used airBnb a lot. I understand that every property has its quirks, but I?ve never had such a poor experience with an owner or the company.
