Pant-yr-Holiad

An attractive woodland garden forms part of a working farm, Pant-yr-Holiad is notable for its unusual trees and shrubs, and especially for its colourful displays of rhododendrons.

A bog garden supports rare ducks, and there are terraced alpine gardens and herb gardens, plus a summer walk lined with herbaceous plants. The gardens are at their best in the spring.

The real garden highlight is the rhododendrons, some were gathered in China and in other wild locations, but others are hybrids, carefully cultivated in Holiad garden. The gardens offer panoramic views across nearby farmland, and feature lovely walks past a millpond, with a walled garden, a secret garden, and a potager.

The garden was built by Worcestershire native Geoff Taylor and his wife, who moved here in 1971 to run the farm. In their spare time they began to create a garden, which now stretches to 20 acres.

NOTE
At last report the gardens were open only for pre-booked parties of 10 or more. Please check with the gardens before making a trip!
