A real log cabin in the woods
This truly is a cabin made from logs! The dogs loved the freedom of the forest and we loved the freedom from wi-fi and mobile phones. It's an idyllic setting and how lovely to wake up to see a buzzard perched close by, squirrels scurrying past and to be lulled to sleep by the hooting of owls. The wood burner in the vast inglenook fireplace dooms warms the cabin up.
A good selection of maps and guides helped us plan our days. And we did park right by the cabin without any mishaps. A very relaxing birthday break.

The Cabin is wonderfully isolated with everything you could need for a relaxing base in a beautiful area of the country. It is rustic and the grounds of the trout farm in which it is located are fabulous, with lots of grass areas for playing, access to the woods for exploring and no ambient light for star gazing! It is close enough to the main motorway to mean getting out and about is easy. A wonderful array of books, DVD's and magazines provided plenty of evening entertainment and the outdoor furniture and BBQ meant we could indulge in "out" as much as possible for meals.

A perfect setting for a great fly-fishing holiday; it was everything we could possibly want and more; a fabulous easily accessible trout lake in superb surroundings. A comfortable cabin with ample space for fishing kit under veranda, also there's a great local eatery and well equipped shop.

What a great place! Hidden away, and nice and quiet. Hiking in the woods and fishing were great, and the owners were very kind. Look forward to return visits.

The setting was fabulous. We were able to just leave our cabin and walk through the woods behind us on a crazy wood adventure following the stream that led us to sheldon woods. We also loved the basicness of it and we really enjoyed the log fire and the whole back to nature feel. The owner was very friendly but left us to it. It was nice to not have any signal and just escape without the kids and just enjoy doing very little. I think anyone that visits here needs at least two nights as it takes a night and a day to fully appreciate the simplicity of the cabin. This is a superb place for dog walking and kids as the exploring we did was fantastic. We will visit again when the kids are a little older and they can explore the woods and stream safely.
