Simply perfect for our needs
Having sold our property, my husband and I needed somewhere to stay for 5 weeks, whilst 'working from home'. Well it felt like home the minute we arrived, a warm friendly welcome from Joanne & Martin, not forgetting the dogs. Waiting for us was a tray of lovely treats, such as homemade banana loaf, jam, eggs and other goodies. The cottage has eco-friendly heating, very clean and cosy. It is well equipped with essentials for both adults and children, also a good selection of DVD's & books. There is sufficient parking at the front and back of the cottage. Joanne provided us with delicious homemade bread (cheese & sundried tomato), banana loaf, eggs and Jam every Friday (for a small cost). Joanne and Martin were on hand to deal with a couple of small issues, which were addressed immediately. Would recommend for a peaceful break away.

Long weekend
We stayed at The Old Bothy for a long weekend, to use as a base while attending our nieces wedding at Blaithewaite House. Perfect base very clean accommodation with a few little extras homemade scones supplied on our arrival by our host Joanne, and we also purchased some free range eggs, homemade wholemeal bread and Apple crumble all excellent thankyou. We had a little trip out to siloith on the Sunday well worth a visit lovely weather perfect day, will definitely return and stay again at the old bothy. Thankyou Joanne

Perfect family cottage
We stayed a week at the cottage and really enjoyed our stay. It's immaculately appointed - really clean, and with everything you could need if you are staying with small children (high chair, cutlery, bed guard, toys, books etc.). It's in a lovely peaceful location, and a great jumping off point for the north Lake District and the Solway coast, as well as having lovely local villages, walks, cafes and pubs to explore. Joanne was an exceptional host - nothing was too much trouble and she really made us feel welcome on her family farm. She also provided the option of ordering from a small selection of her local produce and homemade food which was wonderful - my 5 year old claimed her cottage pie was the best thing she'd ever eaten! We'd love to stay again and would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful stay
We went to stay for a few days with our baby and had a lovely time at The Old Bothy. Joanne was so helpful both before we arrived and whilst we were there. We drive an electric car, and she very helpfully told us where the nearby charging points were (they haven?t installed one yet). They provided lots of toys for the baby, a high chair and a travel cot. There was even some delicious home baking to greet us when we arrived! We're hoping to be back very soon!

Another fantastic stay!
We've just returned from our 3rd stay at the Old Bothy and it was just as fabulous as always. Joanne and her family have gone out of the way to make the place feel clean and secure during the coronovirus restrictions. The cottage was immaculately clean and lots of soap and hand sanitiser were available. Joanne and her family wear PPE to clean the cottages which we can vouch for as we saw them doing it! They had even managed to still add some of the personal touches we love such as books for any children visiting. I believe they rotate the books to prevent any infection risk. My little boy is now 4 and loved watching the cows being fed and seeing the tractors etc going past on a daily basis. It is such a family friendly place to stay in such peaceful surroundings and I can?t recommend it highly enough. Looking forward to going back again soon!
