Wonderful retreat - our 5th visit!
Rhayader is a bustling town in mid-Wales' Red Kite country. Gardeners Cottage is one of 4 properties on the beautiful Glas Lyn estate just outside. It overlooks the river Wye with secluded walks along the tree lined bank (privately owned by the estate). The first time we visited we noted down more than 20 bird species from our breakfast table in the cottage garden! You'll get a warm welcome from Jonathan, Chee and especially their dog Freddie - on-site living in the big house. A couple of miles away is the Elan Valley - spectacular stack of reservoirs rising into the hills. If you fancy a small trout fishing water again a couple of miles will get you to the beautiful upland lake Lyn Gwyn (day tickets in Rhayader). A great holiday hideaway.

It was so peaceful and quiet, and the owners were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The grounds are amazing, and being able to go for walks by the river was great with our two dogs.

It was a stunning house in a fantastic location by the river with plenty of room for the children to run around. Friendly owners and a very convenient location to discover the beautiful surrounding area.

The scenery was beautiful, the river and all the different birds were lovely, and the garden was a joy to sit in. The cottage was very cosy, all in all the whole place is beautiful.
