Self Catering in Gwent - Monmouth

Recently renovated by its architect owners, the Lodge is a dreamy, south-facing cottage, stylishly decorated, and with lots of room, as well as flexible sleeping arrangements to accommodate four couples, or two families. Two of the bedrooms have super king beds that can be split into twin singles. And we can fit in a travel cot, and a blow-up mattress, if you really want to be ten people.
With its own enclosed garden and carpark, the lodge sits at the heart of a farm, down a long (very bumpy) drive, with fields, woods and views all around, dark skies at night, and a remote feeling, but with Monmouth town ten minutes away. It has two log-burners, a big kitchen table with windows all around it, overlooking the garden, a large boot room, a downstairs superking/twin room with en-suite bathroom downstairs for the less agile, the cottage has been made like a home, with shelves full of books (to be read and enjoyed, but not pilfered!), games, and lovely rugs, cushions, pictures and ornaments. Guests are given logs to get them going and can buy more off the owners, if they need more.
The cottage is heated by a biomass boiler, so you'll be very toasty. Dogs are welcome, for a fee, as long as they remain 'on slate' (which means in the boot room or kitchen, to save our creamy sofas!) and two families or four couples works very well here as the sitting room has been furnished as two 'areas', and there are also chairs by a log-burner in the L-shaped kitchen area too, for those people who want to keep the cook company! There is even a hatch from the kitchen through to the living room, for passing drinks, and having chats while you make dinner.
