Local area: Brockenhurst is the largest village in the New Forest with thatched cottages, quaint lanes and beautiful chocolate box scenery.

It has all the shops you need for a holiday - grocer, butcher, baker, post office and chemist as well as gift and hobby shops. There are super friendly pubs and restaurants serving great food, as well as Italian, Thai and Chinese restaurants, together with a good fish and chip shop. The local area is home to ponies, donkeys and cattle, all of which at times are known to roam the main street in Brockenhurst in the hope of a carrot or two! The locals are proud of Watersplash Ford at the top of the High Street where ponies often stop off for a drink on their way to graze on the open forest which surrounds the village.

There is also a pretty picnic and a shallow water swimming spot on the Lymington river at Balmer Lawn. During the summer, there is an annual spectacle and celebration of forest life that is the New Forest Show. For cycling enthusiasts Cyclexperience is a two-minute walk from Cedar Cottage where you will find a large range of bikes, electric bikes, tandems, tag-a-longs and children's seats.

There are a plethora of trails, routes and tracks from the village for bike rides. For those with an equestrian interest, horseback riding is offered at Brockenhurst Riding Stables based at the New Forest Activity Centre. You can even explore the New Forest on a double decker bus! Nearby attractions: Discover some of the quaint villages and attractions nearby such as Lyndhurst, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard.

Well worth a visit, a little further afield, is Monkey World, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, the Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime museum at Southampton. Retail shopping outlets at Southampton and Bournemouth are within easy reach. Beaches: The coastline with its beaches at Milford-on-sea and Barton-on-sea are close by, with Bournemouth and Poole within a short drive to enjoy popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and sailing.
