The cottage sleeps eight people in four bedrooms which are a ground floor king-size double, a second floor super king-size double (zip/link), a second floor 4' double and a third floor super king-size double. There are two bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the second floor. There is also a ground floor kitchen, a first floor kitchen, a first floor utility with a basin and WC and a first floor sitting room. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and a rear lawned garden with a patio and furniture. The Old Newsagent?s is perfectly positioned for friends and families wishing to visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the Northumberland countryside.

Excellent House close to everything in Alnwick We were a family group of eight attending a family wedding at the Alnwick Treehouse. I chose the Old Newsagents house because of its close proximity to the venue and the town centre. Everything that Alnwick has to offer was virtually a few minutes walk away. The description of the house in the advert and the photographs was accurate and gave us all high expectations of our stay there. We were not disappointed as the house well exceeded all our expectations. It was a beautiful old house which has retained many of its original features. All the rooms were tastefully decorated with quality furnishings. It was well presented, immaculately clean and always warm. The four bedrooms had very comfortable beds. With three bathrooms there was never a problem queuing for them. The two kitchens and the utility room were well stocked with equipment and we did not need for anything ? everything had been thought of. The house contained five large flat screen televisions located at various points in the house. The large lounge and dining room made for a roomy stay. There was off road parking for 2 small cars immediately outside the house with free parking for larger vehicles a couple of hundred yards away. We all enjoyed our time there and it added a great deal to our fantastic long weekend in Alnwick. We had good communication with the owner Michelle who was very welcoming. I have no hesitation in recommending the house to anyone although it may not be suitable for person(s) with mobility problems due to the number of stairs over the 4 floors. Fabulous house, excellent location, clean and comfortable We would definitely stay here again! The spacious house is right in the centre of Alnwick so it was easy to eat out , go out for a drink, go to the Playhouse and go shopping as well as visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, etc etc.
It was so easy access the A1 and the coast as well as National Trust properties such as Cragside.
The house gave us all a cardiovascular workout, there are lots of steps but the beds were comfortable and there were plenty of bathrooms on different floors and plenty of TVs for the Rugby fans among us.

Wonderful house in great location. We stayed for week over the Easter period and found the house to be in a great location for visiting the castle and surrounding area.
The house is well finished & comfortable with plenty of room for 8 of us to stay.
There's a lot of stairs to climb if you happen to be on the top floor, but good exercise all the same!

Lovely large house with spac for everyone This lovely house is situated just a short walk from the town and Alnwick gardens. Although the house is large it is on several floors and not really suitable for those with walking difficulties and those who find stairs a problem. There are a few stairs to get into the property which can be a problem for the less able. There is a bedroom and kitchen / dining room on the ground floor which is split with stairs again and no comfortable seating for those who cannot make it up to the lounge on the next floor.
The bedrooms are all spacious and beautiful except for one which would be better served as a child's room or nursery. The bed in this room is rather small.
More seating in the lounge would be helpful when full occupancy of 8 are there and seating on the roof terrace would be helpful too. The roof terrace is accessed by a door from the second kitchen on the first floor. Both kitchens are fully functional with dishwashers and dining tables.
This house is very clean and well maintained and ideal for visiting the area with friends or family.
