Relaxing break in fabulous location
We stayed here as two couples and one dog, all in need of a break from home working! The Old Sweet Shop was just what we were hoping for. It was roomy, clean, tidy and had everything we needed from kitchen utensils, to bedding, towels and even some charcoal for the BBQ and logs for the burner! The outside space for a morning coffee and evening glass of wine was a real treat. The location gave an easy route out for day-trips and excursions. We will return next time we need to recharge!

The old sweet shop
We have just stayed in the old sweet shop and below are the issues we are not happy with especially in a pandemic.
Very dirty cooker hood and kitchen units.
Dirty bathroom.
No parking and HGV's thundering past every day
Loose stair rail.
Uneven flags
Guttering full of bebris causing rain on the outdoor seating and soaking the cushions
Loose carpet
Throws full of dog hair
Kettle full of lime scale
Microwave not working and full of rust
I had read other poor reviews but had already booked. I thought the owner would have taken note and corrected problems. I wish I had listened and done something while I was there or before going. I hope this helps others not to be disappointed. I have tried to attach photos.

Our second visit. Still awesome. Though the pub has reopened, following a fire, so entertainment on tap. Food good in the pub, and on this Easter Saturday is buzzing... The accommodation is great, everything you could wish for in a self catered cottage. Lovely garden, easy access to the coast, and very welcoming to our pooch. Could not wish for a better place.

Dog friendly in the literal sense
We are home from a week at The Old Sweet Shop and we found everything we needed for a summer holiday with four children and a dog. What sets this holiday let apart is that it really is dog friendly rather than dog tolerant. A safe, secure garden. A stair gate (no dogs upstairs). Dog treats and a bowl of water. A map with local dog walks. And in case you don't have a dog, it's also a tastefully and thoughtfully furnished, family let. We loved the outside seating. The property is deceptively large, and with four teenagers we felt that we weren?t under each other's feet. Our only criticism is a lack of large cooking pots. We coped admirably in the summer, and the local pub is excellent, but cooking for six was a challenge in that many of the saucepans weren?t big enough for us all. Could we have cooked a Sunday roast? I doubt it. But having said that, we are looking to return. Also, lovely, helpful neighbours who pointed us in the direction of supermarkets etc.

Fabulous Christmasy adventure
Wow.... What a lovely place. We weekended here before Christmas. Fabulous place for a couple of families, and dogs, and food and bonhomie. The place is so easy, the kitchen is well equipped, the lounge comfy for slouching in front of the TV after a day seal watching, or just trekking on the coast. The bathroom is clean and the shower amazing.... The table comfortably seated eight and the wine flowed. There's no parking but it was easy to find a spot on the road. We will be back!
