The Iceni queen Boudicca (Boadicea) can lay claim to being Britain's first known heroine, though its doubtful the citizens of Roman London thought so. It is somewhat ironic that the woman who burned London to the ground is now commemorated with this appropriately warlike statue at the west end of Westminster Bridge, in the shadow of the Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament.
