Cold cold cold disappointed!
We arrived on Easter Monday in the snow with no heating in the house. Restricted central heating to 2 hours 5.30 to 7.30am and 5.30 to 7.30pm. Asked the owner to please increase the heat as we were cold and had a young baby in the party. We were told to "embrace the countryside", it's a big house and expensive to heat!! We were able to build an open fire eventually in a sitting room but directed to provide our own fuel as his was wet! One toilet didn't work and we were accused of its demise. Bathrooms mostly shabby. The location was delightful but we were disappointed at the attitude of the owner. Kitchen was a traditional country kitchen with aga for cooking and heating. Dishwasher was small not a family size for 10 people. We used showers to save water as suggested by the owner, but insufficient for all to have a warm shower each day. Limited water was also a problem when using the dishwasher. Games room was valued but cold. This house may be better in warm weather. Clearly we won't be returning.

Nice place but needs some work...
This is a well-located farmhouse at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The house is large and full of character. We were a party of 10 adults and there was plenty of room to chill out, cook and eat together but had enough places in the house to get some space. We enjoyed our week. The only downside was some of the interior and furniture needs updating. There's only one shower, the mattresses are super-soft and most of us didn't sleep that well, and some sofas were old and uncomfortable. The owner was more than helpful and looked after us well.

A great place to stay
An impressive grade 11 listed building full of character and the photos do not give it justice. The rooms are spacious, clean and tidy and full of character and fully equipped for the large family. It has an arga oven in the kitchen pleasant enough way to cook when you are not cooking but a challenge for any good cook, plenty of utensils pots and pans available for the larger family. With sky TV for watching all the sports a variety of books available in all the rooms it could easily be mistaken for a library, and plenty of DVDs available for all ages. A pool room that is great source of entertainment for all the family to enjoy. The trampoline in the garden is great source of entertainment for the children and the large gardens are suitable for great day of a variety of outside games and the grass is maintained on a regular basis. There is no problem with the water and the shower and baths were always ready with hot water and never a drop kin presser. Be carful of the owners dog as you open the back door as he sneaks in without your knowledge, but never a problem. check out the website as it does what it says on the tin. There are plenty of place to visit with Settle only a few miles away and the market albeit only small is worth a visit. Settle has a goos variety of shops and can recommend the China China chines takeaway( no delivery ski-ton is only approx 15 miles away another great place to visit with plenty of attractions to suitable all ages, another great place for markets days. The cottage I would recommend to all families and children, check it out.

Great Family Getaway
We had a great weekend away with the family (8 adults and 2 pre-teen children). There was plenty of space due to the very grand proportions of every room and the rooms were beautifully decorated, although the furniture was not expensive enough to make you feel uncomfortable. The kitchen was large and well-equipped with enough pots and pans to cook Sunday lunch for 10 on the Aga (a challenge taken up by my sister-in-law, thankfully!). We could just about sit 10 around the kitchen table. Despite its size, I found the house warm and cosy, and we experienced no issues with the shower or water supply, although I agree the bathrooms are a bit dated. My bed was comfortable with lovely white cotton bedding. Pool table, Sky TV and piano kept everyone entertained, and there were plenty of books on various bookshelves which I would have loved to to have read, had we been staying for longer. The area is very picturesque, with plenty to do. On Saturday we went to Skipton, where the shops and castle were worth a visit, and on Sunday we walked around nearby Malham Tarn. The house was also about 30 mins from Ribbleshead Viaduct (starting point to climb Whernside), and 20 mins from Horton-in-Ribblesdale (to climb Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent). The nearest takeaways were in Settle (3km away), with a selection of Fish and Chips, Chinese and Indian.
