Perfect 10 stars
This is the most beautiful place that we have stayed in Wales, and because of this we have stayed 3 times. The location is so peaceful and scenic and the dam is a must, there are lots of lovely walks and it's perfect for cyclists and very good food in the town. The owners are wonderful nothing is ever to much trouble, the cottage is very well equipped and cosy and spotlessly clean and well maintained if I could give 10 stars I would, we will definitely be going back again.

Second stay in 6 months
We liked it so much we came back. In the same year. On the basis that actions speak louder than words do I need to say more?
If I do need to say more then I should make a special mention of the beautiful views from the house - the best form of therapy for us city dwellers. The House itself is spotlessly clean, comfortable and furnished with taste and love. The welcome from the owners is warm (and efficient). We love Llanidloes too. It's charming, friendly and attractive. Please don't do a big supermarket shop - you can get everything you need from really lovely high quality local shops (butchers, bakeries, green groccer, delis and even a fishmongers) and if you feel lazy there's at least one different pub for every day of the week and the three we have tried for food have all been good to excellent (The Angel, The Mount and the Unicorn). Then you can go for a tramp over the beautful local hills to work it all off.....

A perfect place to enjoy beautiful countryside in great comfort
Thoroughly recommend. Start and end your days enjoying the stunning views over the valley from the outdoor seating areas at the Old House. It is spotlessly clean, spacious and well equipped. Very comfy beds! The hosts are very hospitable and helpful but never intrusive. Llanidloes is a charming town with a surprising number of good food shops and an impressive number of welcoming pubs. I love the mid Wales countryside and there are plenty of day trips and things to do as well as walks.

An excellent holiday property in a truly magnificent location!
We have just returned from our second visit to the Old House Holiday Cottage which for us was a first as we have never before returned to a cottage we have previously rented. So many aspects make this an exceptional property to rent for a holiday.
Firstly, the location is perfect with magnificent views across the valley, the imposing Llyn Clywedog dam and is ideally situated for a peaceful relaxing time. The cottage is located on a working Welsh Hill Farm, and we were there towards the end of the lambing season. Our granddaughter spent early mornings watching the lambs skipping in the surrounding fields, actually the adults did as well!
Secondly, and just as important, the owners, Kayleigh and Stuart, are extremely welcoming and pleased to help with nothing being too much trouble. The property is of a very high standard, there is plenty of space, the beds are very comfortable and the large galley kitchen is well equipped. All aspects of the Old House reflect Kayleigh's attention to detail and perfection.
Thirdly, there are plenty of outdoor places and activities to pursue. Llyn Clywedog, Hafren Forest trails, the Red Kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian, the Vale of Rheidol Railway and the Elan Valley were particularly enjoyable and are all within an hour's driving from the house.
We would thoroughly recommend this as a rental property and holiday location.

Everything you could wish for in a holiday home and more.
This holiday " cottage" is exceptional. It is more like a home that has been made available to you by a friend. Immaculately clean, 2 bathrooms plus downstairs toilet, enormous kitchen with loads of seating and comfortable beds. The views from the house are superb.....watching the red kites soaring over the hills. Lots to do and see in the vicinity we visited Aberystwyth with it's amazing views, Dolgellau, the Devil's Bridge and waterfall is a must ...as long as you have strong knees. Machynlleth is a thriving little town, with so many interesting shops and great on market day.The hill road from Machynleth to Llanidloes is an absolute must, the vistas are amazing. Cader Idris and the nature reserve are beautiful and those younger than us can climb to to the top.So much to see and do we only scratched the surface.
Kayleigh and Stuart are kind and friendly hosts. Lovely relaxed peaceful holiday.
