5* treatment at Welsh paradise
Spent a perfect week in one of the newly refurbished lodges at Llanrwst. Accommodation that felt more like a lovely hotel in terms of style and finish, unspoilt views of an ever changing river, fly fishermen in the sunset, mist on the hills, the occasional Chinook and Osprey (!!) flying up the valley and a team of staff who couldnt do more for us. The accommodation was beautifully decorated and spotless, showers powerful, hot and spacious, beds comfortable and crisp, all the equipment you could need for a week and lovely touches such as beautiful blankets and books for snuggling on the patio watching the sun go down. We took two children under 7 and the grounds felt safe and child friendly- feeding the ducks was a bonus)- travel cot is provided though we didnt need it. Bbq area on the river was a huge hit (and we're told a pizza oven is soon arriving). Staff even cleaned up our bbq coals for us the next morning (thanks guys!!). John and his army of fixers, cleaners and gardeners honestly made us feel like celebrities. Lovely fish and chip restaurant 'Tir A Mor' in town for a dine in option or take away (great fish, proper chips!!) and for all other places to visit near by ask John - we had a great list of places provided - we did them all. Never struggled to park at the lodges, easy walk from cars with bags, we had an Asda supermarket delivery too with no issues (also a spa and Co Op close by). For fresh fish/shellfish we found 'mermaid seafoods' in Llandudno was only real option (but a few choices from'BILLY THE FISH' on the town market in Llanrwst on Tuesday morning). Stunning river walk easily accessible by foot from the lodges as is a castle and a beautiful riverside tearoom. Anglesey is 1 hour away via stunning mountain route (we visited three times) and all other big tourist locations all within around 20 mins of your lodge. We're pretty picky travellers and couldn't find one thing wrong with this place! First time in a long time that we all had genuine blues saying 'bye holiday house'.
