The historic parish church of Chelsea has strong connections with several historic figures, including Sir Thomas More and Sir Hans Sloane. The core of the church is 13th century, with the addition of two chapels in the following century. The church was heavily damaged by bombing in WWII, but has now been largely restored. Before the church stands a statue of Sir Thomas More, who rebuilt the south chapel as his own, private chapel around 1528.
