Vauxhall Bridge carries road and foot traffic across the Thames from Westminster to Vauxhall. The first bridge on this site was erected in 1816, but that bridge eventually suffered from the effects of the tide, and had to be replaced by the current bridge in 1906. The most striking feature of Vauxhall Bridge is the series of 8 female figures which adorn the bridge abutments. These huge figures represent aspects of the arts and sciences.
