Disappointed at the cleanliness of the cottage!
We booked to stay at the cottage after our 2 week holiday to Goa was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic and were looking forward to a well deserved break after a really stressful year. We were told not to arrive before 4pm as the cleaners were doing deep cleans after each booking. We duly arrived around 4pm and there was no sign of the cleaners. Once inside we unpacked and my wife sat on the settee. There was no padding at all in one side and so you were sat directly on a hard board surface. We settled in and went to sit in the sunshine on the patio set. The chairs and table were filthy...not washed for a while. I cleaned them. Once back inside we noticed sugar all over the floor....dust all over the TV Stand and DVD player...head prints on the patio doors...balls of dust on the floor under the armchair. The ormate banister didn't look like it had been dusted in weeks. There was pubic hair on the tiles in the bathroom too. When l contacted the Manager about talking to the cleaner she said she had personally cleaned it and argued about the cleanliness. With hygiene being really important in these times it was a poor show. The cottage itself is lovely and convenient for the town centre and walks but was not as advertised. Unfortunately we were also asked to leave after 2 nights due to the Government lockdown. Both Sykes Holidays and the owners refused to refund us for the 4 nights we didn't have at the cottage. Hopefully they improve the cleanliness for the next visitors.

Another excellent stay
This clean and cosy cottage is ideal for 2. Off street parking is a bonus in ambleside. Town centre just around the corner and a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction brings you to lake windermere. Plenty eateries and pubs near by and Tesco Express, coop, spar and a few local specialist shops if you fancy eating in. Would highly recommend this lovely cottage. There's also a little seating area outside if you fancy dining al fresco, or just a relaxing drink, gazing at the hills.

The truly perfect holiday cottage for 2.
This cottage was perfectly placed within Ambleside for our walking holiday. Parking was safe, off-road and right by the property (a rarity in this area). All local amenities were only a short distance away. The decor was lovely and the furnishings were adequate. There was plenty of storage and an entrance hall for wet boots and coats was brilliant (even though the sun shone on us for the whole week!) There was everything we could have needed from soap and washing up liquid to pegs and an airer. There were even DVDs, plenty of information leaflets and wine!! The heated towel rail was great and so was the fact that the heating was programmed to come on and off. We loved staying here and didn't want to leave.
