Great base for outdoor activites
The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. We were in a group of four couples, and it proved to be an ideal base for cycling and walking. The Red Lion pub is approx one mile away, where we had a warm reception and good meal on Saturday evening. I accidentally left some personal belongings in a bedroom, and the owners generously posted them to me free of charge.

Fantastic
This cottage is absolutely beautiful. From the minute we arrived we felt comfortable and relaxed. The owners were there upon arrival and were so welcoming. You can book the cottage and only take your clothes. It was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Everything was thought of for the guest. Lots of toys for children of all ages. Crates for dogs and everything in between. The bedrooms are all beautiful and have an en suite in every room which makes it so much nicer. Decor was lovely and completely in keeping with the countryside. We stayed at a party of 8 of all ages and had a fantastic time. It's definitely somewhere we will be booking again and next time for longer than a weekend. Gorgeous views. Close by there are some lovely village pubs and Carsington waters of your wanting to go for a walk. Matlock was a short drive away too for something a bit busier. 100% recommend this property.

Great for extended family or group of friends
Well equipped kitchen, large living room with lots of toys for younger children, and comfortable, en-suite bathrooms. Felt spacious with 6 adults, 2 children a baby and a boisterous dog. The converted barn is next to the stables with beautiful views of the surrounding hill sides. The owners (and their children, dogs and chickens) were very friendly and welcoming nothing was too much bother. We took snooker cues with us as a previous review had said there were none, but this had been rectified and our grandchildren spent hours playing in the outdoor room which even in January was usable. It is ideally placed for the beautiful villages and walks around the lower Derbyshire Dales. Carsington water is close with walks etc. for all abilities and Ashbourn only a few miles away with its independent shops and a large supermarket along with a couple of pubs serving good food in Hulland Ward. We enjoyed it so much we have booked again for later in the year.

Great with mates!
As a group we have been hiring cottages around the country for more then 20years! It is hard to find a rental with suitable bedrooms for all! This one cannot be faulted! The bedrooms are a great size and very individual, all the en-suites are again generous. The kitchen is well equipped and the dinning living room is prefect. We are so impressed with Closes Farm that a fifth visit has already been booked in.

Closes Barn Revisited
Just returned yesterday after 4th consecutive early November stay. Found this gem of a place in 2015 and our group of 8 already booked to return in November 2019. Modern and spotlessly clean throughout. Well-equipped kitchen upon entry with large dining/lounge area accessed by a couple of steps. Open-plan staircase from kitchen leading to 4 bedrooms, each with en-suite. Situated off private albeit shared access, leading from quiet country lane. Ideally located for Peak District towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton, and Matlock. Also close to Carsington Water and associated activities. Roll on November 2019.
