Very disappointed, will not be returning.
Arrived to a small chalet in a lovely area on a wooded site just 2 miles from Caernarfon. Driving through the first part of the site, we were hopeful about the place on seeing some lovely static caravans. We knew it was a chalet and not a van from the photos at booking but hoped they were equally as nice. However dropping down the the chalet area, we were surprised to see how run down that area was. A small group of cabins with bits falling off them, gas canisters propped up next to them and just a feeling of not being looked after. On entering our chalet, we were so very disappointed. The floor was filthy, the beds, though supposedly freshly made, were full of tiny bits of detritus and hair, there was hair and dirty tissues in the bins, pieces of toilet paper were strewn all around the toilet and at least one of the ?clean? towels was covered in some red sticky substance. It?s a pet friendly place and it?s under some leafy trees so we expected maybe a few little dog hairs here and there and some bits that had blown in but it was awful to the point no-one wanted to take their shoes off and we contemplated going home that night. Had we not got a 3 year old with us, we probably would have. It left us with a feeling that we didn?t know what was clean and what wasn?t. There was no hoover, although there was a plug for one, but there was a dirty broom and mop set hanging up outside. We had paid ?150 bond as well as the cost of the holiday for insurance against dirt and damage I believe. We immediately called the agent (Sykes Cottages) who took down our complaint and through someone, possibly the owner, we?re not sure, organised an emergency cleaner to come out to us. An hour or so later, a lovely girl and her husband arrived and were brilliant, very apologetic, cleaned up the place as best they could, and promised to return the next day to change the beds as they were unable to access the clean linen. It was late by this point and our 3 year old was exhausted so we went to bed, all quite upset. The next day the cleaners did come back and change the beds, and we spent the remainder of the first day of our holiday washing all the dishes, wiping things down (my mum had luckily bought some bleach), sweeping the chalet out and even mopped the floor which clearly hadn?t been done in a long time. The owner text us and apologised and did try once to get in contact with us directly, however this was only after my husband had told both Sykes and the cleaners that it was pretty bad they were doing all their communication via the agency and the cleaners. We spent most of the remainder of our holiday out and about, Sykes agreed to give us our agency fee back as a bit of compensation, however told us that the owner didn?t feel it was necessary to refund us any money for our inconvenience. Will not be returning.
