St Peter's church at Hockwold (also known as Hockwold-cum-Wilton) is a sizeable country church with a sturdy, square tower rising in four stages to an embattled top. There is a nave with clerestory, south aisle, chancel, and south porch.

St Andrew's is a lovely 14th-century church, rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1708 and remodelled by William Butterfield from 1862. Look for the circular 12th-century font, carved with fleur-de-lys symbols, and the unusual Chaucer Window, depicting scenes from Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

In the grounds of Houghton Hall stands St Martin's church, a lovely medieval building restored in 1726 by Sir Robert Walpole, Britain's first Prime Minister. Walpole was buried near the high altar, not far from the effigy of Prior of Coxford Priory who died in 1307. The west gallery was built by Horace Walpole of Strawberry Hill.

St John's church dates to the 11th century, but the earliest part of the present building is the 13th-century nave. The striking red=brick tower was built in 1765 to replace a medieval tower struck by lightning. Inside are a 15th-century screen and font, and excellent glass panels from the continent.

Outside the entrance to Hoveton Hall stands the 1624 church of St Peter, a tiny gem of a Jacobean under a thatched roof of Norfolk reed. Inside are numerous 18th and 19th-century hatchments to the Aufrere and Negus families, as well as 18th-century wall monuments.

Most of Holy Trinity church was built in the 14th century by Sir Oliver de Ingham, who founded a college of Trinitarian priors here. Ingham Priory was the mother of all Trinitarian houses in England. Within the church are Sir Oliver's elaborate tomb and the early 14th-century memorial of Sir Roger de Bois and his wife Lady Margery.
