This semi detached cottage for 3 people is located in the centre of the market town of Wymondham in Norfolk making this cottage an ideal base for visiting the historic city of Norwich and the world famous Norfolk Broads.

Firkin Cottage is a beautifully decorated semi-detached holiday home featuring stripped wood floors, exposed beams and a pretty courtyard with a garden room and water feature. This charming cottage nestles in an “Olde Worlde” lane in the heart of Wymondham. The town draws visitors because of its impressive architecture, dominated by the 12th Century Abbey and a striking Norman cathedral. The cobbled streets are lined with incredible Tudor buildings, restaurants and hospitable pubs, and during the summer the locals open their gardens to the public. The city of Norwich is nine miles away, with its medieval alleys, winding lanes and constant round of music, art and beer festivals. A shopper’s heaven, Norwich is acknowledged as one of the top five shopping centres in the UK, with its choice of eclectic shops and big name stores.

Oasis of Calm in historic old town
Upon arrival, we were met by Pauline and Jason. A lovely couple who own the property. A very friendly, warm greeting and a guided tour around the premises to insure we knew how to operate everything The property is a beautifully decorated. It has a cared for feeling about it, sympathetically decorated to fit in with the age of the building, yet with all mod cons and comforts. We didn't need heating as it was a beautifully warm week, but it was there should we have needed. The garden is small and perfectly formed. Easily maintained, its a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the location. There's also a lovely 'sun room' or annex to the house. A lovely comfortable place to sit and read, listen to music or entertain. A small BBQ is in place but as we were visitng family we didn't need to use it. The kitchen is well equipped, microwave etc., cooker is gas but has an ignition switch on it. The bottle of wine and biscuits left in for us was a lovely gesture and was enjoyed! As this is an old, and I expect listed, property, the rooms are small by modern standards. But that's why we rented, atmosphere and a feeling of history emanates from the building. The double bedroom is very comfortable, the small single room is lovely too - we didn't use it except for storage. The shower is in the bath and plenty of hot water on tap. There's a step down into the bathroom. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our week stay in Firkin Cottage. Would we come again? Definitely. Absolutely.

We spent a week in this lovely cottage it was ideally suited for the two of us to explore the area. We had a fantastic and relaxing time. The owner is lovely and very friendly.

We have 2 nights left and don't want to leave, the cottage is so comfortable with everything we could possibly need. We had a complimentary bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival, the heating was on which was lovely as it was so cold outside. Everything is crisp and clean and like new. There is a co-op shop 5 minutes walk and several takeaways within walking distance or delivery. We have visited Norwich, Lowestoft, Yarmouth and Raveningham Gardens so far and always enjoy getting back to the cottage for hot drink and relax before deciding what to do for dinner, so much to choose from. Only one downside is parking but if you are lucky which we have been so far we have found 24hr space just 20 seconds walk from cottage.

The quality of everything in the cottage was second to none. You wanted for nothing; the owner had provided everything you could need, from butter dish to first aid kit. The place was spotless and the garden, although small was perfectly formed and tended beautifully. There was always lots of hot water and the bathroom was a delight. The location of the cottage was great. The owner was simply the best, the most helpful of people and only a phone call away if needed. I would recommend Firkin Cottage in a heartbeat. It was probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed in.

Firkin Cottage was a lovely little cottage, with everything you could possibly want. The position of the cottage was in an ideal position, just off the high street of a wonderful little town with very friendly people. We had a very warm welcome. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anybody.
