Great place to paint
Pottofields Farm has two cottages, Cooper Cottage and Pottowe Cottage. I originally booked Cooper Cottage but realised later on that it didn't have a walk-in shower which my husband needed, whereas Pottowe Cottage has a walk-in shower as well as Spa bath. I immediately contacted the owner, Mr. Mungham and asked if it was possible to swap and was very good but asked me to contact the agent as well as I booked it through them so that it can't be double booked for the period of our holiday. The owner was very welcoming and very friendly. There was a welcome pack of biscuits, large bottle of milk, tea and coffe which was much appreciated. The cottage is beautifully furnished and the doors are wide so suitable for wheelchair-user. My husband has mobility problem so the cottage suited us really well. All the rooms are at ground level and there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin. The best selling point for the property is the location, it is very quiet so you are guaranteed a good night's sleep. It is also a great place for walkers, I am not a walker myself but I paint so I was doing just that after we've been out for the day. The only negative about the place is that there is no wi-fi on offer so if you come and hope to do your work, it's not easy. It was also not easy to find the place as Blackhorse lane is long so the SatNav took us to the other end and we ended up in the neighbouring village of Swainby but Mr Mungham met us at the top of the highway, after we called him. If you are a member of English Heritage and Historic Houses Association, there are several places to visit. There is Kiplin Hall just beyond Thirsk, Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Byland Abbey, Helmsley Castle, Kirkham Priory and several others. There is not as many National Trust in this area but the seaside town of Saltburn-by-the Sea is a lovely place to visit and don't miss Helmsley too. We found the nearby towns of Guisborough, Northallerton and Stokesley to be good to explore. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all as it's so tranquil.

The property was in excellent condition - clean, modern and spacious. There was plenty of hot water and heating and it was really well insulated. There was a lovely view from the cottage. A great place for families and anyone who needs a wheelchair accessible space. We have a dog and it was a perfect spot for him.

The cottage owner was very helpful, he was friendly but mindful to allow us our privacy. The cottage was well equipped and ideal for a family. The cottage's beautiful surroundings made a perfect choice for us.
