Great New Year! We spent New Year 2017/18 here with family and friends, eight adults, two children and a well behaved dog. It?s a lovely cottage, loads of room, very clean and well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious with good quality bed linen and towels, comfy beds and plenty of storage. Upstairs has four double bedrooms, two with shower en suite and a single plus a large family bathroom with corner tub and separate shower. Downstairs has a cosy den (or as we called it ?the man cave?) with sofa, pouffe, log burner and TV, a large family lounge separated by an open (but not in use) fireplace, this has comfy seating, chairs and large beanbags, a third lounge can be used as a bedroom and has a comfy sofa bed and storage. The dining room easily seats 11+ and the kitchen is spacious and well equipped with range oven, two fridges, a freezer and dishwasher and plenty of pans, crockery, cutlery, glasses, utensils and even a slow cooker. The conservatory has cane furniture including a dinky child?s chair! A lovely touch at this time of year was a real Christmas tree and fairy lights. A well equipped utility and additional loo completed the downstairs. Outside is a large hot tub, this is suitable in all weathers because it is covered with a timber framed shed with decking, there?s plenty of garden furniture for those who don?t want to go in but still want to be part of the hot tub fun. The garden is a good size with nice landscaping including a small area ideal for bear and gruffalo hunts! There?s a nice pub about 20/30 mins walk away, The Wellington offers good beer, wine and food (try the fish and chips, game stew and belly pork). The owner lives next door and was extremely helpful and friendly, he services the hot tub daily but other than that leaves you to enjoy the cottage. I would highly recommend Hookstone House! Thanks Eigle, we had a great time! Sue L 2018-01-08
Just perfect for our family get-together Great location - very quiet and perfect for going for walks. Ample space for parking at the rear of premises. Garden with closing gate which is safe for small children. The house itself is very spacious with plenty of comfortable seating and there is a light and airy conservatory to enjoy during the day. Everyone in our group said that the beds were really comfortable and we were pleased that there was hot water available all day for washing and showering. The house is very well equipped with a considerable inventory for day to day living. The owner is very friendly and accommodating and did his best to ensure our stay ran smoothly. A welcome pack of essentials (tea, coffee, dishwasher tabs etc) was provided and was greatly appreciated on our arrival. He also maintained the hot tub daily to make sure it was clean and ready for us to enjoy. Overall we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. JohnandWendyBaxter 2017-09-10
