Oh dear why us?
After studying the photos and reading the reviews I honestly thought I was making an informed decision....OMG how photos can deceive you. The "dinning room" moved into a 3/4 finished "sun room" the special feature in this room is the steel joist above the entrance and the nicely presented table and chairs had morphed into 70's dralon nightmares that we all burnt years ago, oh and check out the weeds in the guttering.....the down stairs bathroom had a stainless steel kitchen sink in it and a wobbly toilet....the Kitchen ...two kick boards missing, dirty oven and generally cleanliness sadly lacking.....the stairs ....the wooden knob on the bottom of the handrail is remover able !!! Getting up those stairs without waking the whole household is impossible.........generally the bedrooms were OK and i could almost see the resemblance from the photos - the bedside lights fizzed if they decided to come on, one of the bedheads was loose and there was a nice hole in the wall .....I appreciate its a old house so you will get spiders but we all had to hoover in the bedrooms as there were a awful lot of spider webs that were in the "wardrobes".....The bathroom upstairs was disgusting ...the hose that connected to the water head spray was thick with black gunge, the mould in the shower cubicle, black towels and black furry mats...awful......again the pictures made a great impression....absolutely nothing like the reality...Other people have mentioned the road noise ...we live near a busy road but we were so ill prepared for this one...after two nights we brought ear plugs on the 4th night we gave up and came home so out of the original 8 of us who started for the 7 nights away we were now down to 4 ......One good positive ...a comfy sofa and the telly worked to drown out the other noise. In the write up there is a mention of the covered outside seating area ....picture the worst tap room in a pub with grotty seats and cob webs galore a breeze block under the table leg and you can picture the wonderful ambience with the beautiful hills to the left and the lovely "A55" to the right. I was hugely disappointed and felt dreadfully guilty for putting the whole family through this - I can honestly say whoever took those photos you deserve a medal. PS nearly forgot the best bit .....four couples doing different things each day and ONE key.
