Fabulous detached family house above South Sands beach in Salcombe. Big garden. Footpath to beach.

Open fire. Sensational views. Smart and elegant.

The Wood is a huge detached house on the hill above South Sands beach in the Devon coastal town of Salcombe. The house sleeps 15 people in seven bedrooms: a family room with en suite on the top floor, two en suite doubles, a twin and a single on the first floor with bathroom, a twin on the lower ground floor with a shower room. On the entrance level is a hall and on the lower ground level is a kitchen with dining area and doors to a deck and a sitting room with open fire.

Outside is over an acre of steep garden with pond, seating area and steps down to a footpath to the beach. The Wood is a fabulous house for a very special break in Devon.

Beautiful house in amazing location...
Having recently returned from a week in The Wood during the half term break we would have no hesitation in recommending this house to any large groups. On arrival, we were all blown away by the beauty of the location and corresponding sea views. We were met by the Property Manager (Deborah) who took the time to show us around the house and everything was in great condition. Being a group of 19 (10 adults and 9 children - ranging from 3 to 9 years old) we are always nervous about how a holiday home would cater for our needs and accommodate so many of us under one roof, but we were all very satisfied by the living conditions. The sleeping quarters were clean and spacious and tastefully decorated, with a decent amount of bathroom facilities to meet our needs. There were travel cots and extra beds available making it easy to juggle the room configurations when the inevitable happened on the first night with the older children ending up in one room together! The bathrooms were all clean, modern and well stocked. What really made our stay perfect however, was the living quarters downstairs. The Kitchen was large and spacious with casual dining for the children's dinner time and ideal for family breakfasts together. The large decking area provided the perfect setting for dinner when the weather allowed and you could not ask for a better vista to enjoy a glass of wine in the late afternoon/ evening. It was only a short walk down to South Sands beach with ample activities including Kayak and Paddle Board hire, along with the ferry to Salcombe itself. A 10 minute walk along the road led to North Sands with it's excellent beach and the highlight of our stay... The Winking Prawn restaurant, serving excellent food in a beautiful setting. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend The Wood to anyone and will definitely be returning again as I think we will struggle to find a holiday home that meets so many of our requirements, whilst also offering such incredible views.

Outstanding Home
We had a family reunion with 14 members in this beautiful three-level home that sleeps 17 and overlooks the Salcombe estuary--outside decks, living areas, bedrooms all have incredible views--quick walk down to a special beach. All of the house has been renovated and the interiors are first rate, including the modern bathrooms. The 4-rooms on the first floor have spectacular views and include an open, fully modernized kitchen, with island counters and counter chairs, a dining room that sat all of us comfortably, a sitting room and then a living room all with hardward floors and a great fireplace. The outside deck has a large dining table with deck and lounge chairs. The home is beautifully appointed and maintained. The property surrounding the house has different terrace levels, gardens and great landscape. The house has its own parking area and the property also includes a cottage with its own bedroom, living area and kitchenette. All of the towels, kitchen utinsils, dishes, glassware are included and there is a washer/dryer as well. Wi-fi, CD player, and TV are also included. This is a special place for a gathering. The third floor has four beds with a large bathroom and a kids game room--great place for children to stay and it becomes their pad and hideout.
