Poor, very poor
Let's start with the positives- the cottage is well located to enjoy loads of sites around North Wales. The downstairs of the property is small but comfortable and the main bedroom is very comfortable. The bed is a bit soft for my liking but it's fine. Price wise the cottage was fairly cheap and you get what you pay for.
So? the rest of it. Firstly- on arriving at the property we were faced with an overflowing bin- as in bags of rubbish both hanging out of the bin and over the floor in front of it. Conwy have quite a complicated bin collection system but there was no info in the property about what goes in each bin. The main refuse bin is collected once every 4 weeks so you can imagine the sights and smells when I put the bin out (having followed the neighbours lead). When queried with Sykes the owner got in touch but also told us the wrong day for bin collection.
The smoke alarm on the landing had also been removed and dumped in the wardrobe in the main bedroom (which I am pretty sure is illegal), and the cold water tap in the bath didn?t work which could have been a scalding issue with our young child- this had also been raised by previous occupants but not dealt with by the owners.
The bunk beds in the small room are partly underneath overhead cupboards leaving very little room between the top bunk and the cupboard making this bed almost unusable, I had to pull the bed out from the wall to give my daughter some room and make the bed usable. She found loose screws and cupboard handles in the cupboard- again, a bit of a hazard.
The floorboards upstairs are really really loud- to the point they woke up our kids in the night. Previous reviews on Sykes website have mentioned this and I thought they were being picky but it really is that bad.
All issues have been raised with Sykes but as yet nothing has been done as far as I know. It's been 3 weeks since our emails (and we have chased since) and they are still waiting for a response from the owner.
A smaller niggle- the cottage boasts a smart TVs, but the wifi isn?t strong enough to stream anything.
Needless to say- I wouldn?t recommend.
