The Bankside Gallery is the home of the Royal Watercolour Society (established 1804), and the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (1880), and serves as a permanent exhibition space for artists of both societies.
The Gallery is next to the Tate Modern, in the shadow of the iconic Bankside Power Station. The Gallery was opened i 1980 to provide a home and exhibition space fore members of the two art societies. There are a series of changing exhibits featuring works by members of the RWS and RSPP, as well as special events including member lectures, tours, and educational programmes.
The Gallery is usually open daily during exhibitions, and admission is free. The nearest tube station is Blackfriars, and the gallery is about a 10-minute walk from London Bridge or Waterloo, on the other side of the River Thames.
