Nice but......
This was a absolute perfect find for our trip with enough beds it ended up that we had limiting sharing which was good. Spacious lounge, kitchen, spare room garden. It?s in a nice quiet location too so very peaceful around. Beds are good and rooms nice and simply done. A pack would have been helpful, like just a folder explaining things like every other cottage rental does. We had to hunt down the heating controls and the figure it out. Bathrooms are kinda ok but really really need more than two especially for a place that sleeps 12. We luckily managed to not use the end room near the bathroom so people could use that in the night if needed. Little things like making sure light bulbs are not broken would be good too. Showering in the dark is a bit of a pain! Also what does annoy the upstairs bathroom has the cold tap fitted the wrong way round, you turn the wrong way to turn on, that?s just freaky!!! I would stay here again but would be nice to have little things fixed and more car and detail taken to things like other reviewers have suggested.

Nice place, just let down by those holiday rental niggles
While I enjoyed staying here, Steniog Lodge suffers from little niggles that take the edge off things. If the owner had to spend 24 hours staying here then they would immediately understand. Some of these issues are so so easy to fix. Let's hope they take this as constructive feedback, and sort the easy ones quickly. Con's: Plates too big to fit in dish washer!!!!! What's the point then?! Downstairs toilet shared by 9 people, so a queue in the morning. Upstairs toilet through someones room, so inaccessible during night or early in morning. No mirror above downstairs sink (there is a hook for one!) - how do I shave? No salt/pepper/sugar/cooking oil/dishwasher tablets/pan scrubbers/bin bags/newspaper (for fire). Surely every guest buys these and leaves a 99% full packet behind when they depart? Why are these cleared out?! Downstairs shower could do with a chair/table in the room to put stuff that can't be hung on the door, since the floor gets soaking. Energy saving light bulbs in bedrooms (well done on that) take an age to warm up, very gloomy until then. Extractor hood light not working so you have to cook in your own shadow. No sharp knives in kitchen, not a problem if there was a sharpener. There isn't! Could only find the worlds worst vegetable peeler. No instructions for the 10 different oven settings. Vent control in wood burner not working so stuck on "nuclear meltdown" setting. Quite a bit of damp around the place - bedrooms/kitchen. The third bed in the triples are accessed via ladder and have very little head room. These beds also tend to get stuffy if it's too warm. Pro's: Comfy beds Efficient wood burner (and central heating) Big lounge Dog friendly, secure garden (mostly!) Clean on arrival Bedside lights

Perfect for our requirements.
Stiniog Lodge was perfect for a large group of us staying for a long weekend. Plenty of space and the lodge was well presented and nice and clean. Mei the owner was also very helpful and provided good communication. The Lodge is right at the entrence of Llechwedd slate quarry where ZIP world is based so not only did we enjoy the lodge but ZIP lining in the cavens was great fun and highly recommended. Only one slight negative with the lodge was the number of bathrooms - One down, one up and the upstairs is only accesible through one of the bedrooms. Fine for us but may be an issue for some people.

Outdoors weekend
A prefect base for a big group to explore the Welsh countryside. The kitchen is well equipped and all the rooms clean and tidy.

It is very close to all amenities. The cottage was a good size for twelve people and the owner was very friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10.
